Theme: Capacity-building among academic, administrative, and technical staff.
During the second semester of Year 2, the geoDRR project focused on capacity building to ensure that the Partner Country HEIs can successfully deliver the MSc program. This phase included intensive workshops for the academic, administrative, and technical staff on teaching methodologies, utilization of digital tools such as VLE, and best practices on disaster risk management education.
The key deliverables within this period included the MSc Delivery Guide, drafted with European partners, which provided a direct way through which to deliver the MSc curriculum for consistency and quality at participating universities. In addition, the educational study visits would involve observing the experiences of European institutions in staff delivery of complex and technology-driven courses.
The second and third significantly raised the preparedness of university staff to better deliver the MSc, enhancing the learning experience for students. Investment in the skills and expertise of those leading the program meant knowledge to be transferred to students would be state-of-the-art and immediately applicable to the disaster risk challenges at hand in Southeast Asia.
