A meeting of GeoDRR Project Managers began on Thursday, October 31 at 8:30 am CET.

t was on a smaller scale, as Southeast Asian Partners reported technical problems with connectivity due to a wave of tropical cyclones and the holidays.

The main topic was tasks in relation to the preparation of the financial and technical report. This activity absolutely has priority and must be done, especially since a lot of activities and hard work were undertaken during the implementation of GeoDRR.

First the tragic flooding in Poland in the 2nd half of September 2024, in recent weeks the tragedies in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines and Cambodia as a result of passing tropical cyclones and now the tragedy of Spain (mainly the Valencia Region), also with fatalities (the number has already exceeded 205). The painful thing about all these disasters is that they can be prevented, forecasted and losses reduced, but action is needed. This gives justification that initiatives like GeoDRR are needed and must be developed.

In areas devastated by floods, regardless of the tragic deaths, many residents have lost everything, drinking water and energy are in short supply …
